The new American president Barack Obama is leading the charge and calling for more energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly automobiles. And at the recent Detroit Motor Show the car companies showed they're finally getting the message. But in Germany the government has been sending mixed signals. When it comes to protecting its car industry, environmental concerns often take a back seat here. On the one hand the German government wants to promote the use of electric cars, but on the other it doesn't want to hurt the nation's luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes. Is Germany on the right road?
