Showing her typical early speed and setting the pace while in hand, Xtra Heat ran her career record to an impressive 11-for-12 with a 1 ¾-lengths victory in Sunday's Grade 3, $103,100 Cicada Stakes for three-year-old fillies at Aqueduct. The daughter of Dixieland Heat-Begin, by Hatchet Man remains undefeated at sprint distances, with her lone career loss coming in last fall's mile-and-a-sixteenths Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Owned by Kenneth Taylor and others, trained by John Salzman, and ridden to victory by jockey Rick Wilson, Xtra Heat covered seven furlongs in 1:23 1/5.
