Since I did the Wutai quest, this battle was optional for me, but of course I had to give it a try. Three opponents and one of them (Rude) hits very hard. Your main objective here is to stay alive and hope no one dies. I had a bit of bad luck here, as Cait Sith was killed, but thankfully, it happened near the end.

Also, notice how all three of them got poisoned. That's very rare with a Deadly Waste.
