Breaking up is hard right? Not with the right phrases! Learn how to talk about breaking up when you are no longer happy with your partner.

In today's video, Teacher Becky teaches us how to say a few different variations of "Wǒmen fēnshǒu ba. 我们 分 手 吧.  Let's break up".

Perhaps your life goals do not seem to match. In that case, say:

Wǒmen bù héshì.
我们不合适. 
We are not compatible.

Another way to break off a relationship is to say:

Wǒmen fēn shǒu ba! 
我们 分 手 吧！
I am not sure if we are right for each other!

If you want to let them down a little easier, then add "sorry" to the mix.

Duìbuqǐ. Wǒmen bù héshì, fēn shǒu ba!
对不起。我们 不 合适, 分 手 吧！
I am sorry. We are not suitable, let's break up!

Lastly, you could give a specific reason detailing why you want to break up. The following phrase is quite common: 

Nǐ zòngshì jiā bān. Nǐ zǒngshì méiyǒu shíjiān péi wǒ. Wǒ juédé wǒmen bù héshì. 
你 总是 加 班。你 总是 没有 时间 陪 我。 我觉得我们不合适.
You always work overtime. You always have no time to accompany me. I think we are not suitable.

Watch out for this grammar point: 吧 (ba)

吧 (ba) is a modal particle used at the end of a declarative, imperative sentence or a question to soften commands, requests, and suggestions. 

Therefore, in "Wǒmen fēnshǒu ba. 我们 分 手 吧. Let's break up", 吧 is a suggestion to break up.
