In 1954, Charlotte Rae played Mrs. Peachum in the celebrated off-Broadway production of "The Threepenny Opera" at the Theater de Lys. Among her songs in the show were "Instead-of-Song" and "Ballad of Dependency." In late 2000, she sang those songs again, and on the same stage (now called the Lucille Lortel), in a reunion concert of the Brecht-Weill-Blitzstein classic. Seen here as Mr. Peachum is George S. Irving.
