Alfred, one of just two English kings known as "the Great" (Canute being the other), Alfred rose to prominence during the most tumultuous era of English history. Vikings have crossed from Scandinavia and have begun to colonise the isles. Alfred leads one of the last bastions of Anglo-Saxon defiance in the realm... can he hold the line and possibly even force the invaders out?

At last! The newest addition to the Total War series is here. The Saga editions focus on a smaller, more directed period of history, and here we explore the struggle between the Norse and the Anglo Saxons, with the Great Heathen Army coming up against King Alfred of Wessex.
