After much confusion August 16, 2014 in the main event of Showtime Championship Boxing Shawn "Showtime" Porter(24-0-1 15kos) will OFFICIALLY defend his 147lb IBF Welterweight Title against the United Kingdom's "Special" Kell Brook(32-0 22kos).

After much confusion the bout is finally official for Saturday September 6, 2014 on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Eddie Hearn Brook's promoter has confirmed that contracts have been signed and Golden Boy Promotions has received them.
.
"Special" Kell Brook(32-0 22kos) has been the #1 contender for the IBF 147lb Welterweight title for nearly 2 years. Brook was supposed to face former champion Devon "The Great" Alexander(25-2 14kos) in 2013 on multiple occasions but Brook dropped out twice citing injuries and Alexander once himself. Now the current 26 year old champion Shawn "Showtime" Porter(24-0-1 15kos) is concerned that Brook may drop out of this fight for whatever reasons and causing Porter to be without an opponent and other opportunities no longer available. Despite the inner turmoil with Porter's unofficial promotional company Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York has been reserved for August 9, 2014 to hold the potential bout which also has been rumored to feature Danny "Swift" Garcia(28-0 16kos) as well.

The IBF(International Boxing Federation) gave current IBF 147lb Champion Shawn "Showtime" Porter's(24-0-1 15kos) management and promotional team until June 10, 2014 to finalize mandatory title defense against Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing Promotions Kell "Special K" Brook(32-0 22kos) the current date is June 3, 2014 6/3/14.
