Flight MH17 was headed from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia when it was shot down by a BUK missile over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, killing all 298 passengers and crew. The missile was fired by the Russian military's 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade based in the Russian city of Kursk, Wilbert Paulissen of the Dutch National Police said during a press conference today. The missile itself was put on display (main) during the presentation, where Paulissen revealed that they had established that all the vehicles in the convoy carrying the missile were part of the Russian armed forces.
