In the era of social media, we see stories develop to take numerous turns, claims later proven to be wrong. How can we become less likely to be manipulated by others? What should we do instead of following blindly? Fang Lan, a journalist and educator, thinks the key is to develop critical thinking. She takes us through a few recent public events and reminds us why critical thinking is now more important than ever. Plan C Education is a social enterprise dedicated to improve critical thinking and civic education. Before initiating C Plan Education, Fang was a senior journalist at Caijing Magazine and CaiXin Media. Graduated from The Paris Institute of Political Studies, she is concerned with educational equality, social welfare, minority rights and other social topics. Endeavouring to popularize critical thinking and civic education, Fang spent years recording the social development of Chinese citizens. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
