Filmed using a towed camera by the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, this huge seagrass bed in Torbay stretches out 400m from the shoreline, providing vital food and shelter for many marine species. From the not-so-glamorous sand-dwelling lugworm, whose mound is seen at the film's outset, and the small snails grazing on the leaves and seeds of the seagrass; we travel on through the denser meadow to see the pollack and juvenile bass hunting the small fish and invertebrates that grow and seek refuge within the seagrass bed. Dead leaves, usually woven between the seagrasses, are disturbed as the camera moves through the densest areas of the bed. At a depth of around 7m, the seagrass becomes sparse as less light penetrates the water to the seabed.
