#mumbailonavala #mumbaitolonavala #lonavala Why is it that places close to a cemetery or Kabrastan are more cinematic and interesting? Follow me on instagram https://www.instagram.com/swapybond_thebiker/ & facebook https://www.facebook.com/SwapyBond-The-Biker-1617329888531321/?ref=br_rs Well that's one of the few places I got to see in Lonavala. For many a Mumbiker, Lonavala is a place which is associated with popular hangouts like : bushi dam, sunil's wax museum, lonavala lake, tiger point, sunset point, wet n joy water park, adlabs imagica, della adventure, coopers chocolate fudge, maganlals chikki, sunny da dhaba but I feel that in all these top places one misses out on some core places of Lonavala like the Rye Wood Park which is nestled away quietly into the jungles of Lonavala. From outside it just looks like any other park but when you enter it, it is a cinematographers delight as the possibilities seem endless here. The only criteria is that the director, actors or the creative team should have that cinematic eye to call the final shots. I by no means am a professional photographer or a cinematographer but this place made me want to try my hand at it. The only downside about this place is its location, its bang opposite the cemetery and is generally avoided by the tourists. However I felt it was rocking, amazing and a fantastic place to spend the quality time with friends and family. The trees seem as if they are centuries old, its almost as if someone turned back time. I then visited the Karla caves which are situated atop a mountain & which also have a temple of Goddess Ekvira. Climbing the mountain was a physically daunting as well as spiritually exciting experience. Its amazing the peace one feels after reaching the top. The caves are said to be carved in the 2nd century B.C. and are somewhat similar to what you get to see on Elephanta island which is a few miles away from the Gateway of India and the Kanheri caves of SGNP. Later I picked up some local food items and desserts from the shops. I enjoyed my time in Lonavala, unfortunately I was just there for a day. I hoped on to the Mumbai-Pune expressway and raced my way towards Mumbai. It was a pleasant drive. Some of the other Maharashtra Hill Stations : Amboli. Bhandardara. Chikaldhara. Jawhar. Mahabaleshwar. Malshej Ghat. Matheran.
