(28 Nov 2018) The head of a union chapter in Ohio says General Motors' decision to stop small-car production at its assembly plant in Lordstown and consider closing it for good is "like you get punched in the gut." "You lose that breath of air," United Auto Workers 1112 President Dave Green said Tuesday, a day after GM made its announcement. Labor union leaders and others hope they can persuade the automaker to find another use for the factory. "There's a beacon of hope, this isn't a plant closure, right? This is no allocation, so we're hopeful that there's some allocation in the pipeline, whether that's an SUV, an electric car or a combination," Green said.
