My 2005 Yamaha YZ250 sat for years after i blew up a piston. My attention was on my street bike.
But spending some time with the NONAMERS in the hills restored my love for wet dirt.

I hit up Motorsport.com , MTA distribution, and Chaparral Motorsports for all of the parts i needed.

I started with a fresh cylinder, piston, crank, and all the bearings, seals, and gaskets to rebuild the complete engine. Everything is fresh.

After i finished the engine i turned my attention to the rest of the bike. The forks got some much needed love from RG3 Suspension. I also installed a fresh chain and set of sprockets. All new plastics (that I've already beat up) , need Reeds for the VForce 3 reed cage, Steel braided brake lines from Core Moto, Tech 2 Pro tires from MTA/STi , Galfer and EBC brake pads F/R , and a few other things like new hoses for my carburetor and repacked my FMF muffler.

It was the biggest dirt bike restoration i have attempted at one time. And i loved every minute of it, even the frustrating times.

This video was filmed after most of the rebuild was done. I had about 7 solid rides on here and there was a few more details to attend to.

I installed a wiseco clutch basket, and oem actuator and pushrod. this helped my notch clutch, but now has me wanting the wiseco pressure plate and inner hub to have the best clutch possible. put all the power to the ground!

I also repacked my FMF Muffler, it actually made a solid difference in how she runs.

lastly i have a goal to steppe the diatribe but the oem brakes are horrible. I first installed Steel braided lines, this helped little. The next step was HH sintered Galfer pads. These have a nice bite with less fade. Still not perfct, I am hoping for a big rotor in the near future.

For now.. i am super stoked on how the YZ250 is running. My soul smiles when I'm out in the dirt.

If you have never ridden a dirt bike i suggest you do! I love street bikes, but dirt bikes are my true love.
