Syria's President Bassar al-Assad said the strikes will increase his resolve to crush terrorism. After the attack, Syrian state news reports Assad briefed Iranian President Hassan Rouhani over the phone, outlining how his country will confront this. Assad said the attack comes after Western states realized they had lost control of the situation in the region and credibility in the conflict. The Syrian president emphasized this will only increase his people’s determination to fight and crush terrorism.
