Roland Koch, the acting state Premier of Hessen, is one of Germany's most high-profile and controversial politicians. His political career has come close to collapse on several occasions but he has always managed to ride out the storm. The outcome of last Sunday's Hessen state election means he will likely be re-instated as state Premier. Last year, Roland Koch's campaign against immigrant youth criminality in Hessen's 2008 elections caused an uproar across Germany.
