Opposition leader Tzipi Livni (Kadima) criticized on Tuesday the current government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for wasting two years before conducting negotiations with the Palestinians.In a speech at the Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, Livni said that the Israeli government must make the decisions that will save what remains of the negotiations, assuring that Kadima will support the prime minister if he makes these decisions, and urged him to make them quickly.
Livni said that ending the conflict with the Palestinians is a clear Israeli interest, and not a favor to the president of the United States.

If Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to go forward with peace talks he does need to make haste. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has asked the Arab League for direction who will be convening over the weekend.
Netanyahu stands to lose the support of his government coalition if he pushes forward with a proposed US backed 60 -- 90 day extended building freeze. The collapse of Netanyahu's coalition could usher in new elections and could see the rise of opposition leader Tzipi Livni and her political party Kadima come to power.  But over the last few days, Livni has been pledging her support to join forces with the Netanyahu government in an attempt to bring about peace. With the addition of the Kadima seats a new coalition could be formed thus preventing a collapse in Netanyahu's government. In theory, this could possibly allow him to go forward with an extended building freeze without the immediate repercussions he fears.
