Ban and Bloomberg want to Seal the Deal!

United Nations, New York, 23 June 2009 - Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg are calling for people around the world to unite and work towards a new climate change agreement. At a press conference in New York City today, Mr Ban and Mayor Bloomberg announced that a global summit for world leaders and other major events will take place in the city over the coming months aimed at encouraging a successful outcome to the negotiations for a new global deal on climate change this December in Copenhagen. On 22 September 2009, the Secretary-General will convene a Summit on Climate Change at the UN Headquarters for the Heads of States and Government from every country in the world. The focus of the day-long event will be to mobilise the political will needed to "Seal a Deal" at the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
