এলএইচবি কোচ দ্বারা যাত্রার ২ বছর পূর্ণ করলো "সুন্দরবন এক্সপ্রেস" । দিনটা ছিল ২০১৬ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের ৮ সেপ্টেম্বর, বৃহস্পতিবার ঢাকা রেলওয়ে স্টেশন থেকে ৭২৬ডাঃ সুন্দরবন এক্সপ্রেস ভারত থেকে আমদানীকৃত লাল-সবুজ এলএইচবি কোচ দ্বারা প্রথম যাত্রা আরম্ব করে । মাননীয় রেলমন্ত্রী মহোদয়ের পক্ষে বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ের মাননীয় মহাপরিচালক মহোদয় উক্ত উদ্ভোধন অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ।
বর্তমানে সুন্দরবন এক্সপ্রেস (৭২৬ডাঃ) সকাল ০৬:২০ এ ঢাকা থেকে যাত্রা শুরু করে এবং বেলা ০৩:৪০ এ খুলনা পৌঁছায় আবার (৭২৫আঃ) রাত ০৮:৪০ এ খুলনা থেকে যাত্রা শুরু করে এবং ভোর ৫:৪০ এ ঢাকা পৌঁছায় । ঢাকা খুলনা রুটে বুধবার সুন্দরবন এক্সপ্রেস এবং খুলনা - ঢাকা রুটে মঙ্গলবার এর সাপ্তাহিক বন্ধের দিন ।
