Excellence in the business of broadcasting was celebrated on Thursday as the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association held its Annual Awards Ceremony. Three awards were bestowed for hard work and overall advancements in the industry. The late Dame June Gonsalves received an award posthumously for her excellent work in the industry. Peter Ames, the TTPBA President, also received an award for his innovation and commitment to broadcasting, and a new TTPBA Community Excellence Award was also presented to the Ryu Dan Dojo for exceptional dedication to the youth in their area. President of the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association (TTPBA), Kiran Maharaj, noted the profound changes occurring in the media industry. She says media practitioners have to be futurists and strategic thinkers, always referencing their goal and mirroring the people they serve through news and entertainment. This, despite uncertain funding influenced by the downturn in the world's economic fortune.
