Quick history of cinema and it's impact on society. I've also featured some early movie memorabilia from my own collection. In our celebrity obsessed age it is inconceivable to think that in 1910 the names of movie actors and actresses were not even mentioned in the credits or on posters or promotional material but that's exactly what happened since the early movie studios feared that if they promoted them in their own right they would demand more money. The astute actress Florence Lawrence managed to cleverly negotiate a studio deal where she would be promoted in her own right, giving birth to the age of the celebrity that we know so well today.
