I was surprised to spot this herd of elk on my drive home from Manhattan, KS last Monday. It was getting dark, and at first I thought they were cattle, but I saw there was no fencing around the field where they were grazing. I had heard that there was an elk herd on Fort Riley, but this was the first time I'd seen any of them.
