Using a primed 16"x20 " canvas painted with another layer of white paint to help added paint colors flow ...I empty a cup of colors in a ring pattern. The ring pour cup was layered with paints from squeeze bottles already mixed with pouring medium. Paint is added in thin layers (often adding white between the colors), spout side only. I tip the ring in a circle to start and continue to move and spread the paint toward the edges without losing any paint. I use a long stiff plastic sheet the length of the side of the canvas to stop paint from flowing over. The paint pools against the "edge catcher" I then tip the canvas back and allow the pooled paint to merge with the rest of the pattern and this further enhances the artworks patterns. I stop when I'm satisfied with the design but there are gaps and I fill them with more paint and fill the space by spreading paint with a small spatula. My "pouring" mixture or "recipe" is simple- 10-20% Golden Gac 800 goes into 80 or 90% color to start the mixing process. Mix thoroughly. I add Floetrol,( minimum)enough to double the volume. You could use a more expensive alternative. I like Deco Art pouring medium. If you use squeeze bottles as I do, add a marble and shake your paints every time before you use them. All my acrylic paints are mixed in advance and contained and stored in squeeze bottles. I add no silicon. To create the pearlescent effects seen in most of my artworks I use "Golden's" Iridescent pearl "Fine" added to colors. By "eye " until I am pleased with what I see. Every day I learn new things. I will never stop experimenting and I am happy to share what I discover with you.
