(13 Dec 2018) British foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt hailed what he called "real progress" Thursday during peace talks to try to end the civil war in Yemen.
Hunt said the talks, in the Swedish town of Rimbo near Stockholm, had generated a real sense of confidence on both sides.
But he cautioned there was still a long way to go.
Hunt said Britain had told all parties to the conflict that there had to be a negotiated settlement to the war, which has created one of the world's worst humanitarian catastrophes.
The UN-sponsored talks have brought together the two warring factions - the internationally-recognised Yemeni government, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, and the Houthi rebels who are supported by Iran.
The government said the next round of talks could take place as early as next month.
An international group tracking the war said the conflict has killed more than 60,000 people since 2016.
Both sides agreed at the talks to exchange more than 15,000 prisoners by 20 January.
