There is great excitement in Makhanda in the Eastern Cape today as the first pass out of (400) trainees from the recently launched Eastern Cape Province Youth-in-Infrastructure Maintenance Development programme takes place. The programme is targeting those who have not passed matric. The programme, together with the Provincial Government's Youth-in-Agriculture Development and Maritime Youth Development Programmes, are integral to the Eastern Cape Youth Development Strategy, which seeks to identify low-hanging fruits by creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to tackle the high-youth unemployment rate in the province. We cross to our reporter Yanga Funani for an update. For more news, visit: sabcnews.com
