Mind bender, This guy will let you do more dps total if your doing atonemtn healing because your being the .5 healer, but solace gives back more mana. there are some fights were you can't atonement heal like first half of dark animas and the the guy who sounds like gollum from lord of the rings, so for those two fights you take mind bender no matter what.

Power word: Solace. Before its change it was pretty bad, but its now super amazing. What is does is replace holy fire, does the same damage and has the same cooldown. Its does increase smites damage through the glyph of smite exactly like holy fire does too, but you do not want to use that glyph anymore unless your being the .5 healer. Now solace cost no mana, and in fact gives you 1% of your mana.

Holy fire on the other hand cost 1.8% mana, so with solace and the fact your watching an atonement guide where your using holy fire all the time anyway, its like getting about 3% mana from every cast with the combination of saving 2% and gaining 1%.

Mind bender Gives 1.46% mana back with every hit, and hits about 10 times during his duration which comes out to about 43,800 mana. Shadow fiend gives 3% mana every-time he attacks and will attack about 8 times during his duration which comes out to about 72,000 mana. But since he can only come out every 3 minutes, you divide 72,00 by 3 for 24,000 mana per minute. Solace can be used 6 times a minute for 1% per use which comes out to 18,000 mana per minute. Holy fire, assuming you have 5 stacks of evangelism for the minimum mana cost possible cost 28,800 mana per minute to use. So with mind bender you get 43,800 mana per minute, but subtract having to spend mana on holy fire comes out to a net gain of 15,000 mana per minute. Now solace is a net gain of 18,000 mana per minute which already more than mindbender, but you also have shadow fiend which is an additional 24,000 mana per minute for a net gain of 42,000.

So to re-cap all that math, mindbender is a gain of 15,000 mana per minute while Solace is a gain of 42,000 mana, almost 3 times as much mana as mind bender.

Plus Solace is an actual HPS INCREASE over mindbender after the atonment nerf. Solace will heal for 100% of the damage it does while holy fire only heals for 90%, thats because solace has its own separate effect that works just like atonement but is not atonement. Solace gives back 3 times as much mana as mind bender and is an hps increase for atonement priest, defiantly the clear winner. (well not really clear, you'd never know if you didnt do the math since mind bender is usually better because its easier to manage.)
