During a briefing update by the Minister of Transport Ms Dipuo Peters and the agency responsible for road safety the Road Traffic Management Corporation they concluded that ‘this situation calls for desperate measures in a desperate situation’. To mitigate against those arrested for drunken driving for instance, they proposed that the schedule 3 offence under which drunken driving is classified be upgraded to a schedule 5 offence by our justice system.
