I overload the Ikea tradfri LED driver sligthly by connecting a 12V LED bar and increasing the voltage to the control board. For this, the internal PSU was disconnected and replaced by a bench PSU. The DMMs show input and output current, and theyre basically the same, and the small displays on the PSU are current and voltage, respectively. This driver is specced at 30W/24V, 1.25A. It does go up to 1.8A or so before safely shutting down, requiring a powercycle to come back.

I also tried setting the output to 30% dimmed, but it shut down at approx the same voltage, ie. it detects the peak current not average.

The mosfet did not feel even the slightest warm after this, but prolonged overload could possibly damage it.

The module seems to accept down to 7v or so.
