“7.0” Joe Koenig and team talks about nearly running the first Pro Stock Motorcycle Six Second Run

“7.0” Joe Koenig had his original AMA Prostar Pro Stock crew back together at his surprise birthday and had a little fun recalling the team’s record run of 7.029 in May of 2002 at Virginia Motorsports Park. Koenig, along with crew members Jeff Wudi and Kevin Fardoux feel the team may have been able to record the category’s first six second-pass (something Andrew Hines would go on to do three years later) with one more run. The team pokes fun of their friend Paul Gast, who opted to move the final round to the tour’s next race because of some late night dew that moved in. The 7.029 was so far ahead of its time, it gave Koenig the nickname “7.0” which sticks to this day. Those were fun days for AMA Prostar Prostock. At times there would be fields of more than 20.
