OR is this the Worlds Greatest Private Car Collection? Last week we saw Peter Mullins collection, this week we look at the the Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, California. Its impossible to say who has the worlds best automobile collection. It mostly depends on what cars you like. There are many great museums as well, but we are looking for privately owned collections. Most are open to the public, some not. Jay Leno has one of the greatest auto collections, but it is not open. If you want to see it you need to follow his YouTube Channel, Jay Leno's Garage. The Nethercutt Collection also includes a train, a Royal Hudson and Pullman car, as well as a fabulous music room. The music room contains collections of mechanical musical instruments, including orchestrions, player pianos and music boxes, as well as antique furniture. Also in the music room is a "Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ" which is connected to a MIDI computer playback system and a Imperial Bösendorfer grand piano. The sound is stunning! Many of these private collections are open to the public for tax reasons. If the collection is a not for profit "museum" the costs are tax deductible. In this case the main building is open to the public for free! Donate if you want. But the original collection, including the music room, is open by appointment only.
