Get a look inside Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory in Daytona Beach By: Lola Gomez - Lola Gómez is a Daytona Beach based photojournalist. She was born and grew up in Caracas, Venezuela where she graduated from Universidad Santa María with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She build a career working for private and government entities in Venezuela for more than 10 years. In 2009, she moved to the United States to pursue a career in photojournalism, her true passion. In 2013, she graduated with high honors from the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies in Daytona Beach, FL with an Associate of Photographic Technology. Since then, she has worked for publications such as the Orlando Sentinel and the Daytona Beach News-Journal where she strengthened her photojournalistic skills covering local news, including major sport events as Daytona 500 and NBA games. Her series My Heart Back Home awarded Silver in Domestic Picture Story category in the 68th College Photographer of the Year (CPOY). This series also won the Army and Air Force Exchange Service’s Homeward Bound photo and video contest in 2014, and her work has been exhibited at the Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach, FL. Currently, she is a photojournalist at the Daytona Beach News-Journal, and pursuing a Bachelor degree in Journalism at the University of Central Florida (UCF).
