Rod Rosenstein flew with Trump to Orlando for the president's speech to a meeting of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Trump told reporters as he was leaving the White House Monday that he didn't have plans to fire the Justice Department's No. 2 official. Rosenstein's status has been in question since reports surfaced last month that he had talked about recording Trump to expose chaos inside the White House. The president warned Florida residents to prepare for Hurricane Michael. The tropical storm was upgraded to a hurricane as it gets ready to move into the Gulf of Mexico and it is forecast to make landfall by midweek in Florida's Panhandle or Big Bend. During his remarks, Trump also said he'd directed his attorney general to "help straighten out the terrible shooting wave" in Chicago. Trump said that "the crime spree is a terrible blight" and "there's no reason for what's going on there." He encouraged the city to use the controversial "stop and frisk" policing strategy.
