The title speaks for itself. Turku/Åbo has three railway stations: Kupittaa/Kuppis, Turku Central railway station and Turku Port (Turun Satama/Åbo hamn). Since 1972 after the devastating closure of the tram lines, this has been the only available passanger rail traffic over there, after the regional and commuter trains were abolished in the 1980s and 90s. The light rail system in Turku is planned to be extended to the harbour via the new Linnankaupunki neighbourhood, after the first phase (Varissuo/Kråkkärret - Raisio/Reso first and foremost). The decision about the light rail system will be possibly taken in January or beginning of 2019, first phase possible construction during 2022-25. The 0,125km funicular line from Linnankatu/Slottsgatan to Kakola Hill will open in early 2019.
