www.storyguide.net Choosing a camera for shooting a video can be difficult. Really, there a too many options, and until you see the picture how can you decide what's best? What is the right camera for you? What camera will give you a great image without being too complicated? Is there really a difference in the quality of the video? Here is your chance to compare six common types of cameras to figure out your best choice. We have arranged cameras (professional, consumer HDV, DSLR, Flip. iPhone and iPad) side-by-side to simultaneously capture the same interview. You can see for yourself the spectrum of picture versus ease of use. You can also see how the cameras manage available light and compare the sound quality of the on-camera microphones. All of the cameras do a reasonable job of capturing the moment. From the pocket-style flip camera to the pro, you can create good stories. But as you will see, each camera handles the same light a little (some of them a lot) differently. The low price point of something like a Flip camera results is a lower quality image. No surprise there. But how denigrated is the image and is the picture good enough to tell your story. More money in a camera buys you a better picture, but it also buys you a more complex camera to operate. For most users the choice of camera is a balancing act between what gives you the best image without the risk of missing the shot.
