En México estamos todos apasionados con la idea de los grandes emprendedores tipo Steve Jobs que cambian al mundo pero nos olvidamos de nosotros y de quienes somos.  En México hay 8 de cada 10 mexicanos que viven en situación de pobreza y vulnerabilidad y que luhan por salir adelante todos los días por medio del autoempleo.

Todos en México somos Gloria y para salir adelante, necesitamos cambiar las reglas como ciudadanos, como consumidores y convertirnos en agentes de cambio. La desigualdad en nuestro país se puede reducir si todos adquirimos consciencia acerca de la importancia del consumo responsable y asumimos un verdadero compromiso con el impacto social de nuestras acciones.

Gabriela se ha preocupado por ofrecer herramientas sólidas -y de calidad mundial- para que las familias emprendedoras de México salgan adelante por sí mismas siguiendo un modelo que promueve a través de Prospera. Prospera es una empresa que fundó en el 2009 para encontrar formas innovadoras de enlazar agrícolas, proveedores, comerciantes, universidades y gobiernos locales para ayudar a microempresas a crecer y convertirse financieramente sostenibles y fuentes de empleo. Gabriela es economista y politóloga del ITAM y tiene una Maestría en Políticas Públicas de UC Berkeley. Se define a sí misma como una "activista, inconforme y entusiasta de corazón. Trabajo para transformar a mi país en una tierra de oportunidades para todos".

About TEDxZapopan
The goal of TEDxZapopan is to connect the agents of change in our community and discuss the ideas and solutions of the most pressing challenges our society faces.

The focus of our second event was "The Power of Purpose". More than 20 change agents and representatives of different NGO´s from Guadalajara have shared their insights, experiences and ideas with the local community and inspired the collaboration to confront the major social issues we are facing (i.e. from environment, education, social integration up to the infinite possibilities of people with handicaps).

In the first edition of TEDxZapopan in March 2012 we have focused on "The Power of Passion". The objective to inspire people to discover their passions and provide them with the best practices on how combine their passion with their professional lives.
