On the day of Gandhi Jayanti 2-Oct-2018 we saw an unusual thing, wherein one single locomotive working as of off-link with one train, swiftly assigned with new duty of another train and that too as off-link at Ahmedabad Junction. The locomotive seen in action is Gonda (GD) WDM-3A #16824 which pulled in #59050 Viramgam-Valsad Passenger from Viramgam to Ahmedabad got detached and quickly reversed in opposite direction to take charge of Jammu Tawi Express stabling beside it. The same locomotive must have gone to Viramagam on previous day with #59049 Valsad-Viramgam Passenger from Ahmedabad. I’m not sure whether this locomotive showed up with #19224 Jammu Tawi-Ahmedabad Express or not on previous day. As soon as we saw that this train took charge of Jammu Tawi Express, we were eager to catch this same locomotive again as off-link on Delhi line. We took #79435 Ahmedabad-Patan DEMU for Jagudan. Within 10 minutes of gape post reaching to spot, the same locomotive emerged with #19223 Ahmedabad-Jammu Tawi Express for its next halt at Mahesana Junction. This loco will haul this train up to Firozpur Cantt. Junction from it will be hauled by Ludhiana ALCo in reverse direction towards to Jammu Tawi. This train has RSA with #22957 #22958 Somnath Express running in between Ahmedabad Junction and Veraval Junction and #19225 #19226 Bathinda-Jammu Tawi-Bathinda Express. This specific train belongs to Western Railway, however operating on Northern Railway region, one amongst the weird cases of RSA in Indian Railways.
