A levator scapula stretch is a great way to help relieve tension and pain in the neck and shoulder area. Watch more Ask Doctor Jo videos featuring full routines for common injuries and syndromes at http://www.askdoctorjo.com To perform a levator scapula stretch: 1. On the side you want to stretch, bring your arm up and place your hand on the back of your shoulder blade so your elbow is pointing upward towards the ceiling. Take your other hand over your head and place it on the back of your head. 2. Gently pull your head down at about a 45 degree angle, like you are pulling it towards your opposite knee until you feel a stretch. =========================================== Prescribe this video, and others like it, to your patients as part of their Home Exercise Program with a FREE HEP Builder account: http://www.hepbuilder.com =========================================== SUBSCRIBE for More Videos: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=askdoctorjo ======================================= Doctor Jo is a Doctor of Physical Therapy. http://www.AskDoctorJo.com http://www.facebook.com/AskDoctorJo http://www.pinterest.com/AskDoctorJo https://www.instagram.com/AskDoctorJo http://www.twitter.com/AskDoctorJo http://plus.google.com/+AskDoctorJo ======================================= Levator Scapula Stretch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8gI096xP4g DISCLAIMER: This content (the video, description, links, and comments) is not medical advice or a treatment plan and is intended for general education and demonstration purposes only.
