Every year, kids from around DC audition to become "supernumeraries" -- the soldiers, mice, party guests and other participants in the ballet. With limited time to learn, they rehearse every weekend at the Maryland Youth Ballet and will soon dance alongside professional ballet dancers at the Kennedy Center. This video covered the Ballet West performance of the Nutcracker in 2018. For the 2022 holiday season, Kansas City Ballet’s The Nutcracker, comes to the Kennedy Center to continue our annual holiday presentation of America’s best Nutcrackers.
