AlphaOmegaSin might say some stuff at some point that's intelligent. Until then, this isn't it. Writing a black character in a piece of fiction does not take away from their character. If, as many people who are against representation, a character is well written and that race (or gender or sexuality) doesn’t matter about them being a good character, then you can interchange their race without any differences, because they are, after all, a good, human character. You don’t have to stop writing white characters, especially if you’re white and writing about something modern (thus something where a black person’s perspective might be inaccessible to you). But if you’re writing fiction fiction, like a Star Wars or a Lord of the Rings, you can go ahead and put as many different kinds of people you’d like in there, and if you think that’s limiting you creatively, then maybe you’re actually racist. If a good character is a good character regardless their race, you can easily make your characters more homogenized, fuck, for sake of realism.
