Capital Stage's Youth Theatre is a program designed for high school-aged students, who are continuing their theatre training or discovering a love of theatre for the first time. Students enrolled in the Summer Performance Program learn to use mind, voice and body to connect with on their fellow actors and with a live audience. From story and character development, to ensemble-building, to live performance, skills learned in this class help students grow -- both as artists and as people! This summer Capital Stage presents a rigorous three-week program in which students work together to create, rehearse and perform a new piece of theatre. Under the direction of professional director and actor Jonathan Williams, students are spending the first week creating a one-act play through discussion and improvisation and will spend weeks two and three developing their characters and rehearsing the piece.
