Nobel peace laureate demands answers about missing Saudi writer in Istanbul

(8 Oct 2018) A Yemeni journalist and 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner said Monday that what happened to Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi was "part of the state terror committed by the Saudi kingdom against their citizens inside Saudi and outside Saudi". Speaking outside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Tawakkol Karman asked the international community "to help my friend who is a very well known, famous journalist" adding "where is he? Where is he now?" Khashoggi, 59, went missing while on a visit to the consulate in Istanbul for paperwork to marry his Turkish fiancée. The consulate insists the writer left its premises, contradicting Turkish officials. He had been living since last year in the US in a self-imposed exile.
