Everyone worries about iBuyers and venture backed discount companies like Redfin, Opendoor, and Door, but the real threat is coming from platforms we use every single day. Take Zillow for example. Agents give them listings, buy their leads, and now Zillow owns DotLoop, the exact transaction management and e-signature software that thousands of agents rely on to process contracts. That means they have direct insight into your transaction data. The same pattern is happening with Quicken Loans and Rocket Mortgage. Agents pass clients off to these giant lenders without realizing how those companies are building direct to consumer systems that bypass the agent entirely. We are literally handing over our client data, listing inventory, and contracts to platforms that are building tools to drown us out. If you do not start thinking bigger and protecting your business, you will wake up one day and realize you built your competitor's empire.
