Here is a video demonstrating our 4th year electrical engineering design project. A series of hand-wound electromagnetic coils are repelling a vehicle which has permanent magnets attached to it. The levitation and propulsion of the vehicle is achieved by varying the current flowing through individual coils.

We accomplish this through the use of a buck-converter type circuit - controlled by an Arduino MEGA microcontroller. Optical isolation is also provided in our circuit to protect components, as well as freewheeling diodes to protect our power MOSFETs.
