Moved by a deep sense of imbalance in the world, Chrystel has always sought to be a force of change. This led her to pursue an education in Political Science, International Relations at Carleton University in Ottawa, close to the hub of the political wheel that she idealistically hoped to influence. When Chrystel stumbled upon the concept of permaculture, she recognized it as more than simply a design system for human landscapes, but a concept that represented a way of placing human culture in balance with the Earth. She declined an invitation to pursue an MA in Sweden, choosing instead to study alongside farmers and yogis in Latin America and India, British Columbia, Washington, California and Alberta. She has since returned to her hometown of Canmore, where she has directed her passion for thriving life and vital change, into a community gardening initiative and local food business.
