Continuing from where we left off, we go up the stairs and run into Guildenstern. You might remember him as the mad scientist demon bloke from Onimusha 1. He's the one that caused all this time travel tomfoolery. As you'd expect from him, he sends a boss fight out way.

2:05 - Brainstern - This is a big, robot, Genma that Guildenstern created in like...half an hour upon entering Paris, somehow. I'm not gonna argue how he managed that. He has a number of attacks ranging from semi-automatic gun fire, rockets raining down from overhead, and several physical attacks where he basically just tries to whack you with one of it's metal...wings? Plates? Arms? It hits you with SOME part of it at any rate. Since this game still has tank controls, tight and precise dodging just isn't going to happen. Especially not with me at the helm. So I take quite a few hits from his attacks. If I learned his moveset I'd most likely be able to avoid more of his attacks but I had enough healing items to just heal through the damage I took and take him through aggressive attacks.

5:54 - Jacques - After defeating the boss and following some cutscenes, we'll now come back to Jacques who has now ended up in Feudal Japan, a few days prior to the attack on Honnoji. Progress further into the forest and we'll be given a new weapon, the Oni Whip along with Jacques own Oni Gauntlet. All of Jacques weapons are whips or whip-like weapons. They function identically to Samanosuke's, but they have a few gimmicks to them. Particularly one where Jacques can charge up the whip, then land an attack to stun the enemy. He can then whip out his pistol of infinite ammo and shoot the hell out of them. Pretty cool.

The Oni spirits will also grant us Ako, a tiny little Tengu girl that is just the cutest damn thing. She grants Jacques the ability to speak the traditional Japanese language: English. Yeah, let's not think too hard on that one. Now Jacques is unfortunately no longer voiced by Jean Reno because Jean Reno had better things to do than voice himself in a video game.

On top of smashing the language barrier to pieces, Ako also grants a few other abilities. She can pick up items dropped by enemies and bring them to you, open special Tengu chests (we saw one in Paris I couldn't open as Samanosuke), and she can grant various additional effects based on what Vest she has equipped. I'll mention more of those as we unlock them.

13:45 - Make some more progress and we'll run into Samanosuke, fresh out of Onimusha 1 and still retaining his original appearance and weapons. Yes, there are two Samanosuke's in the plot of this game. One in the past and one in the future.

27:35 - Enja - After we explore a bit more we'll bring an item to a pedestal, which brings down a new weapon for Jacques. This is Enja, the fire whip-blade. It's going to be your main weapon for Jacques for majority of the game. It hits harder than the base whip, has a fire magic attack, and can cut through those living plants we saw earlier. We can backtrack to get some goodies that were blocked off by them now.

Right, that's about enough for this part. Unlike Onimusha 2, I actually really enjoy this game so I should have more to talk about it with each video. The main thing holding me back is youtube's stupid text limit.
