For this part we're leading an attack on Hideyoshi. We're supposed to be coming here just to destroy the Genma Mother Tree buuuut...we'll see how that goes.

I play as Roberto for a bit of the early part of this. I stop after dying because Roberto is a bit, uh, awkward as hell. The main problem with him is that he doesn't have a proper dodge, instead he ducks and weaves like a boxer. This means his dodges keep him in place and have VERY little I-frames. You have to time a dodge perfectly to dodge as him. If you master it, it's great because it means you're still in position to attack the enemy immediately after dodging, but man is it hard to do. Not worth it in my opinion. Roberto does hit pretty hard though, and I feel he does better with a heavy 3-hit combo weapon than his rapid fire punches from his default weapon. His unique command is Berserk, which appears to just be him attacking wildly as if he were on All-Out Attack, except he doesn't get the damage buff nor the HP drain. So it's kind of a nice trade off.

We've got quite a few tough enemies for this part so I don't recommend trying something new here. We see the Genma General type of enemy that Danemon Ban had is finally being reused, as well as other harder enemy types all grouped together. There's also some flaming orbs that are indestructible and just follow a set path so you have to try to avoid them or get hit. Good news is that they damage enemies too.

17:29 - After this cutscene, the whole party gets split up so we play as Soki going solo for a while here because no one other than Tenkai can follow directions.

31:32 - Sakon Shima 2 - Here's our second fight against Sakon. We can ONLY use Tenkai for this fight, so hopefully you've at least used him some to get a handle on him. Tenkai is actually a solid counter to Sakon, his side dodge covers a lot of ground so he can circle behind him pretty easily and his multi-thrust is great at damaging his open back from a fairly safe distance.

38:57 - Onimusha - Soki enters his Onimusha form permanently for the rest of this battle. We fight some Genma Generals but they literally cannot damage Soki, so you just need to slash them up until they all go down. In this form, Soki's magic attack changes to a new slash attack that can chain from any of his combos. Soki also automatically absorbs souls in this form, so the X button does nothing for now.

40:50 - Hideyoshi Toyotomi - Here we fight Hideyoshi. His first phase, Hideyoshi literally cannot damage Soki, so it's just a matter of wailing on him. It's a good time to get used to his attacks. Once he gets to half HP, he'll fully recover his damage and then power up. Now he CAN damage Soki, so you need to actually dodge his attacks now.

Hideyoshi can be annoying to fight. Mostly because he flies around the arena in between attacks, so it can be hard to hit him. The Triangle attack can clear some ground to close in on him, so that might come in handy for this. As for his attacks, he has a unique mechanic for this fight. His main attack is to fire three lightning orbs at once. After he does so, the orbs remain in the area for a set time and bounce off walls in an unpredictable pattern. He can also fire off a single orb or explode in a purple shockwave after you hit him enough times. His more deadly attack is when he shoots lightning from his hand into one of the orbs, which then chains the lightning into the other orbs so they basically create an electrocution field. This can be really hard to avoid and the only way to stop it is to wait for the attack to end or get to Hideyoshi and combo him out of it. The main issue with this fight is that the orbs take forever to disappear, so you can have between 5-8 of them bouncing around off screen and blindsiding you as you attempt to go after Hideyoshi, who is also flying all over the place. It's damn near impossible to not get hit while trying to fight him. I pity anyone that tried a No Damage run of this game.

Defeating Hideyoshi will end the stage and force us directly into the next chapter.
