This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Bermudian Stephan Johnstone released three poetry albums before the age of 30. Johnstone, who is also a graphic designer and an entrepreneur, performs regularly in Toronto and at Bermuda’s Chewstick open mic session.

Stephan Johnstone, born and raised in Bermuda, is a man of family and vision. During his high school days, like most teenagers, he had no goal or idea of what he wanted to do with his life but at the time he had developed a growing interest in boats and piloting which eventually lead him to an opportunity to sail from Boston to Halifax. While in Halifax Stephan randomly purchased a scanner for his computer; little did he know at the time that this scanner would change his life.

After graduating from George Brown College's School of Design (2006) he worked for a small design studio & print shop in Toronto for the next 3 years. Today Stephan lives between Bermuda and Toronto creating and designing for SJDWORLD.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
