Edge clouds must overcome a host of complex networking issues. They need WAN integration, multi DC networking, and others. An SDN would seem like the right solution but typically has a big control plane footprint. The Tungsten Fabric community release 5.0 centralizes SDN control and monitoring for distributed POPs, removing the need to deploy a heavyweight SDN control plane on the Edge Cloud. It also supports BGP integration, giving users seamless integration of Edge Cloudlets into a global WAN
