O’Malley: Bombshell claim PMO's knowledge extended beyond Nigel Wright

Stephen Harper's long-time close adviser, Ray Novak, knew from the outset about the plan by former chief of staff Nigel Wright to secretly pay $90,000 to cover Sen. Mike Duffy's controversial Senate expenses, it was alleged at Duffys trial Tuesday. Novak, through a Conservative Party spokesman, recently denied knowing about the payment until it became public, and Harper has maintained a similar position throughout the Senate spending affair. But the allegation, and the potential political embarrassment it constitutes for the Conservatives, is in a statement made to police by Harper's former legal adviser, Ben Perrin. It was read into the court record by Duffy's defence lawyer, Donald Bayne.
