US Job Losses Slowed in July

The U.S. unemployment rate declined unexpectedly in July as employers pared back job cuts. A Labor Department report released Friday shows the jobless rate dropped to 9.4 percent last month, down one-tenth of a percent since June. Although the job market remains weak, the government says the latest jobs report is another indication that the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression is coming to an end.
