Wolf-Lundmark-Melotte (WLM) is a small and secluded galaxy located at the outer edges of the Local Group. Using ESO’s OmegaCAM on the VLT Survey Telescope, astronomers captured a detailed image of the galaxy spanning about 8000 light-years at its greatest extent. Although considered part of our Local Group of galaxies, WLM is so remote and small that it may never have interacted with any other galaxy.
